Alison was a Lion at the Distress Centre of Greater Toronto. A leader. Someone respected and admired. Someone who 'walked the talk'. Someone others could go to in their time in need, whether personal or professional. As I did. She was an amazing executive director. She had vision, passion and dressed in such a fashionable and stylish way. I miss her all the time... Barry, Justin & Brett my hearts go out to you three. Today was her birthday so I am going to celebrate the wonderful life she lived and created for others. Her legacy will forever live within these walls and our hearts. I miss you "Alley-Sun"...

What a gift to have known and volunteered with Alison during her time on the PAVRO Board. Alison reached out to me when she worked at Toronto Rehab and asked me to meet her for coffee to talk about a volunteer role with PAVRO. I was intrigued and a little awestruck. We met and she told me about some amazing work that Lorraine McGrattan was doing with the PAVRO AVA Liaison Network. Her ask to me was to continue to build upon that work. To this day, it remains one of my most cherished volunteer roles. Alison gave me one piece of advice and made one request. Her advice was to own the work and make it my own. Her request was to think about what my next volunteer role with PAVRO would be. Alison led by example and because of her mentorship and guidance, I joined the PAVRO Board soon after. I am so grateful to have met Alison. She did so much good for so many. Rest in power.

My sincere condolences Barry, Justin & Brett for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. What a gift it was to have known Alison as a friend, colleague and mentor. Her leadership, vision and commitment to the volunteer and non-profit sector was an inspiration to the many colleagues and clients whose lives she touched and will leave both a void and an important legacy. Most importantly, I will remember Alison for her passion for life, kindness and dedication to her family and friends.
