I just heard that Barbara passed away. She was wonderful person. I have many fond memories of my visits with Barbara and Junior during my years in Halton. She was a passionate Holstein Breeder and she was so proud of the accomplishments of her herd when it was sold to the US. I would see her at the Royal and she would update me on some of the success of the cows she bred and raised. She was a great example for farm women to follow and she was admired by many people especially for her achievement as a Master Breeder. My sympathies to her family. May the memories of the life you shared with her give you peace and comfort at this time. Phyllis MacMaster, former Agricultural Representative, OMAFRA, Halton Region

My deepest sympathy to Barbara's family on her passing. Barbara was a lovely woman. She truly loved her Holstein cows. It was wonderful to see her become the first woman to ever receive Holstein Canada's Master Breeder shield many years ago. So many great animals continued to result from Barbara and Junior's herd after moving to Matt Engel's Luck-E herd in Illinois. Barbara definitely left her mark in the Canadian Holstein breed.
