Obituary

With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Denise Winchester, who quietly slipped into God’s arms on October 16, 2020 surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Denise was the loving mother to Ijenna and Christine Winchester (Angelo Mastrangelo) and the sister to Cheryl-Ann & Hayden Francis Winchester. She was also the doting aunt to Christian Andrews and grandmother to her beloved grandson, Jordan Yaokokoré.

Denise was born in the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago to parents, Leona (née Williams) and Nestor Winchester. She was the eldest of three children and grew up in a family of love and laughter, often with a plethora of cousins and friends playing and enjoying the vibrant cities of Tunapuna and Arima.
In her teen years, Denise was an excellent student and strong leader. At 17, she moved to Canada to attend Wilfred Laurier University, later earning a double degree in psychology and sociology, which provided the foundation to her over 35-year career as a provincial Social Worker with the Ministry of Community and Social Services and 10+ years in the Insurance Industry. Denise had a passion for continuously improving the lives of her many clients and advocating for her colleagues.

The passion for her career came only second to that of the love for her family and faith. Denise was a devout Catholic, who had a strong presence in her church communities.
She always led with faith, compassion and empathy and took this approach with everything she did in life and everyone she met along the way.
She will always be remembered as a woman who lit up a room with her laughter and larger than life spirit.
We love you forever, Denise, now rest in Heaven’s splendor.

Much gratitude and well wishes to everyone, who have expressed their love and support during this difficult time.
