Obituary

In 1957 a young couple, newly married, boarded a ship to travel across the Atlantic Ocean. They left family and home behind to begin a new life in Canada. What a life that has been!

Jack Laurence Cook passed away on January 23, 2020 at the age of 88 in the town of Milton, Ontario. He was the seventh of eight children born to Bert and Dorothy in Hemel Hempstead, England on December 20, 1931. He fell in love with Gillian, becoming that young couple that married and ventured to another country for a different life. In 1963 they welcomed their first child Stephen, followed 18 months later by their second, Jacqueline.

Jack was a tool and die maker by trade, and in May of 1986 took a brave step forward in becoming a business owner of a machine shop – Condraulic Industries Limited. A year later Stephen joined him, and Jack passed on his vast wealth of knowledge to build a family-run company that still carries on today.

Jack was an avid golfer, a member of the Trafalgar Golf Club. He spent many hours in pursuit of those small white balls around that course, as well as many others – both in Canada and around the world. When he wasn’t on the course, he was usually trying to find a way to improve his game. He and Gillian enjoyed travelling and visited many beautiful locales over the years and always returned to Canada with tales and treasures. They did return back to England to visit on a couple of those adventures to visit with family and re-acquaint themselves with their home country. In 2014, Gillian passed away leaving Jack behind. Now, they can be reunited once again.

Jack was predeceased by his parents Bert and Dorothy and siblings Bertrum, Kenneth, Dorothy, Roy, Stella, Ronald and Peter. He is survived by his son Stephen (Heather) and daughter Jacqueline (Rick), as well as grandchildren James, Cassie, Garrett and Samantha and great-grandchildren Cody, Keegan and Taylor.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family; details are below. For those considering a memorial donation, the family requests that donations be made in Jack’s name to The Alzheimer’s Society of Peel.

From 1931 – 2020 spans a total of 88 years, but the dash in between those years are what mattered the most. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends.
