Dorothy Georgina “Jean” Dawe, 96 years of age, passed away on January 21, 2019, at Allendale Long Term Care Home in Milton, Ontario. Born in Mornington, Ontario, daughter of the late Elmer & Susan Watson.

Jean was raised in the Beach area of Toronto where she met her husband Don at Kew Beach United Church. Jean & Don married on June 20, 1947. Three children later, choosing to raise them in the then small town of Brampton, close to golf courses and hockey arenas, they were married for over 30 years until the untimely passing of Don at the age of 54.

Jean was a selfless, caring and giving woman who volunteered for over thirty years to the Canadian Red Cross, Cancer Society and Brampton’s Peel Memorial Hospital.

Pre-deceased by husband Don Dawe, son Greg Dawe, grandson Jordene Dawe, siblings Shirley Bamford and her spouse Luke, Betty Black and her spouse Bob, brother Jack Watson and brother-in-laws Alec Dawe and Kirk Kirkpatrick.

Survived by son Brad and his wife Cathy, daughter Sandy Prong and her husband Mike, granddaughters Brielle Prong, Jennifer Dawe, Jaime Jacob, Jessica Payne, Shishane Johnstone, grandsons Ryan & Darren Prong and sister-in-laws Barb Dawe, Audrey Kirkpatrick and Ruth Watson and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday January 27th at Lionhead Golf & Country Club, 8525 Mississauga Road, Brampton, from 1pm to 4pm. All those who new Jean and her family are welcome to attend.

Those who wish to remember Jean in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Threads of Life @, in memory of her son Greg Dawe who died in a work place accident at the age of 28 while working for the Region of Peel.

With sadness I just discovered this now. Jean was one of my mother's most treasured friends and they shared many good memories. My mother passed away last year and I have come across many photos of the two of them from the 1940s. My sincere condolences.

I knew dear Jean from Allendale and what a wonderful lady to know and to be around. My condolences to her family. I am glad her final days were at AD where we could all enjoy and benefit from knowing such a kind and gentle lady. Sincerely, Laurie MacNab (volunteer)
