Obituary

Mike passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2019. Mike was born in Streetsville, Ontario on June 10, 1970, to Larry and Maria from Georgetown, Ontario. Mike was an amazing husband to Jenn (Brown), a dedicated and devoted father to his four incredible children, Kennedy, Braeden, Jackson and Addison. A loving brother to Teresa Myers and Dan (Nancy), beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews. A supportive and admired son-in-law and brother-in-law to Lee-Ann, Brian (Cathy) and Michael Brown and an unforgettable friend, cousin and colleague to so many. Mike worked in the water industry for many years with both Culligan in Milton and the Water Depot in Waterdown. Mike was an avid baseball player and loved to be on the ball diamond with his brothers from the Burlington Oldtimers Slo-pitch League. Mike was an inspiration to many throughout his battle with cancer and will be remembered for his sense of humour and his passion for both the Denver Broncos and everything superhero which he always shared with his children.

The family of Mike wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the team of doctors and nurses at Milton District Hospital, Juravinski Cancer Centre and the palliative care team through CCAC and LIHN. A special and heartfelt thank you to our many friends and family for all of the support and love throughout Mike’s cancer journey.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the McKersie-Kocher Funeral Home 114Main St. E. Milton 905-878-4452 on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2 pm. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

I am Braeden’s girlfriends mom. I have only had the pleasure of meeting Mike two times and they were brief. The first time was at Haley and Braeden’s grade 12 graduation. The second was when I dropped my daughter off at his home in Milton to spend time with Braeden and his dad. After that Haley got her license so who knows how many drives to Milton have been made. That being said, I so know that Mike was a great man, he gave my family Braeden. We have welcomed Braeden into our home and have cherished every moment. Although I don’t know Mike well, I feel I know him through his son. (I mean all you have to do is look at Braeden and see his dad!) Hopefully Mike can rest in peace now, with no suffering, and no more pain. Your son is now my son and we will take care of him, love him and always be thankfull you gave him to my daughter and our family. May you find eternal peace and god bless you 😘

It's okay to miss you,
It's okay to cry.
Just know I'll never forget you.
This isn't a permanent goodbye.

Sometimes I sit and wonder
If you are standing by my side,
Giving me the courage
To carry on with pride.

I'll hold onto our memories,
Until this life is done.
In my heart is where I'll store them,
Where we can be as one.
