Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hospital in Hamilton, in his 72nd year. He was born in Trinidad on April 10, 1947, to Carl and Dolores Sardinha and was the second youngest of eight brothers and one sister. Throughout his life, he lived as a devout Catholic and this was evident in the way he cared for and treated people.

Peter is survived by his two children, Chris Sardinha and Ilsa Williams (Sardinha), four loving grandchildren, Kapri, Jaxson, Jeremiah, and Kaiah.

Peter had nine siblings, Dennis (deceased), Patrick “Patos” (deceased), Jeanne Patino, Selwyn “Chunks” (deceased), Kenneth, Sylvan “Fathers”, Larry, Stephen “Steppy” (deceased) and Roger, his many nephews, nieces and close friends - near and far.

Peter was well respected and looked upon as a friend and influential teacher in both Canada and Tobago. He had a profound love for his family and many friends and was a proud supporter in the lives of those that he loved. His influence and guidance reached many in his immediate and distant family and in his community, and he will be remembered for his many stories, jokes and his sharp intellect.

“Turkey”, as he was often affectionately called, welcomed and relished the many challenges and adventures that living in Canada offered: the cold, fishing (even on the ice), exploits in Northern Ontario (snowmobiling), curling, wine-making, cultural food caravans and “Christmas Parang”, all the while maintaining his Trinidadian/Tobagonian roots.

Peter spoiled his family and friends with his tasty culinary skills (especially with seafood & “dummers”). He was a lover of music, sports, movies...and often enjoyed a good documentary on animals and nature. Born in Trinidad, Peter was a proud Tobagonian and an active “pannist''.

Peter approached all moments in his life with will, determination, faith and grace...these were evident and exhibited during the last 5 years as he battled debilitating medical conditions. His unique humour, optimism, outlook and gratitude for life never wavered.

Due to these unfortunate and challenging times, a funeral service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, 50 Charlton Ave E., Hamilton, ON L8N 4A6. But if you can, say a prayer, even in your own words, for this special man.
