Hey roommate

When I first met Albert a little over a year ago he was the first new face I had encountered at Brock. We were both being dropped off at our neighboring rooms by our families and ran into each other in the bathroom we would share over the next school year. Albert started off by being very bold and commenting on the shortcomings of his program and how much older I looked than him, This is what always struck me about Albert; Although he was undeniably socially awkward apart from while playing Starcraft or exploring Reddit, he never shied away from an opportunity to add his opinion (great opinions) and try to add some humour. His humour was an insight into his mind and although often misunderstood, always appreciated and entertaining. We grew to have a comfortability with each other that few roommates get to enjoy, we were both relatively tidy, enjoyed our space, stayed up late and always had different times that we needed the bathroom. If anyone had reason to complain, it was Albert because I absent mindedly locked him out of the bathroom at least 20 times. When I apologized to him for it, he simply taught me how easy it was to unlock it again. Albert was always in his room when I had locked myself out and needed to get in through the bathroom and was always making a sarcastic but well deserved remark about my forgetfullness. We banded together over mutual hatred of car alarms and mutual love of simple living. When Albert and I parted ways with a hug and a what I thought to be assumed knowledge that our paths would likely cross again, he left his room unlocked. I walked in to find all of his furniture in the wrong spots and his floor covered in sticks. Knowing that this would surely result in a fine, I happily cleaned it up knowing that I owed him a lot. Unfortunately our paths never did cross again due to different programs and his love of keeping to himself but I do know this. Albert led that solitary lifestyle by choice and did love the people in his life, he may have been quick to make satirical remarks of others lifestyles but he was just as quick to help them with homework. Albert was a roommate more than a friend but a friend none the less and I thank God for his presence in my life. Prayers go out to the family and friends of Albert and i truly do miss you.
