The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mario Belvedere can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The real deal

I first met Mario while CEO of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am games. I was looking for a good home for the first velodrome in Canada, and I showed up in Milton to discuss the idea with Mayor Krantz and Mario one cold and rainy November day in 2011. Mario immediately saw the opportunity for Milton, and with the Mayor's support started to work with me to bring the idea to life.

His enthusiam and optimism was infectous. As I got to know Mario better during our phone conversations every few days, I grew to have deep respect and admiration. Mario attacked the funding with energy and courage. He  had the spirit of an entrepreneur and looked to make it happen with creativity and drive. The Velodrome will be a testimoney to his vision, his determination and his courage.

Mario was the real deal.
